Wise Ways in Using Twitter

Twitter is still the favorite for people to voice their opinions, share threads, promoting products, blog, and/or personal website. Artists, activists, state officials, politicians, and commoners are using Twitter to communicate with each other without boundaries.

Chances are, Twitter opens the opportunities for personal opinions and grievances to be heard by powerful people by mentioning their accounts. Here, Twitter provides equal space for all parties to be heard.

It’s common for people to argue on Twitter that it often becomes a tweet war. Therefore, the government through the UU ITE tries to control people’s speech on social media by forbidding hate speech.

Therefore, if you are an active Twitter user, or just about to be one, it is important for you to know the wise ways of using Twitter. Practicing ethics in using Twitter can help you to avoid any violation of acts against the law.

1. Never share personal information

Personal information such as complete name, ID card, address, birth date, phone number, bank account number, and emails are included in important sensitive information.

Therefore, it’s important to protect such information to avoid any irresponsible use by other people. Put such information or post it on Twitter is unwise.

2. Don’t Tweet Hate Speech and Racist

As we mentioned before, Twitter has grown and become a place for online debates, which often leads to tweet wars. Not a few were later arrested by the police because they tweet hate speech, racist, etc.

Your hate speech tweet might not bring a negative impact now but it can be in the future. The digital footprint is cruel, people can scramble into your tweet history, screen capture it, and spread it all over social media.

Therefore, it is important to be careful about what you type on social media.

3. Keep business and personal accounts separate

You may be a person who actively throws critics on government policies, but on the other hand, you are a small business owner who tries to make living.

For this, keep business and personal accounts separate to avoid mixing twit.

4. Use Real Name

Some people just wanna have fun on social media. Using a fake name on Twitter is unwise too as other people might use your real name for their reckless purposes.

In the end, it will be difficult for you to handle such an issue. So, it is better for you to use a real name, it doesn’t have to be the complete name but make sure it is credible enough.

5. Don’t Recklessly Follow Accounts

We don’t know everyone on Twitter, it can be good and bad people. Recklessly following Twitter accounts, without knowing who are they, or who their mutual friend is, is an unwise move.

So, it is better for you to keep track of who you follow on Twitter.
