5 Types of Online Advertising

There are many types of online advertising currently in use. Do you recognize the types of online advertising that exist today?

1. Display ads

 

At the beginning of online advertising, there were only display ads. Display ads are a type of visual ad that appears on other websites related to your content or services.

In its journey, display ads have grown rapidly from just placing banners. Now you can see display ads in the following forms:

  1. Static Images: These are basic banners that are generally box-shaped and appear around the content.
  2. Text: text created using algorithms so that the content is relevant to the surrounding content.
  3. Floating banners: banners that move across the screen or float on top of regular content.
  4. Wallpaper: wallpaper appears and changes the background of the website, it fills the entire page.
  5. Popup ads: pop-ups bring up a new window in front of the content, when the new window is clicked, it will display the full ad so that visitors can see the entire ad.
  6. Flash: moving ads that display different content to visitors.
  7. Video: video ad in a small box, short duration, and will automatically play the video, visitors can play or turn off the video ad.

Rates for display ads are usually very affordable, especially when you contact site owners directly. The rates for each site will vary. If you want to advertise through a marketing site, the rate used is the basic rate.

Third-party sites such as the Google Display Network allow users to target based on demographic, geographic, contextual, and/or user behavior.

 

2. Social Media Ads

 

Social media ads are a type of online advertising that is very effective and efficient. You can post any form of advertisement on social media platforms, such as simple banners, photos, and autoplay videos.

Social media ads can be a savior for businesses who want to be successful in doing business online. It’s also easy to use as you can set your own target audience based on age, area, interests, educational background, etc.

Social media ads are of two types, namely:

  1. Organic: organic means that the ads attract visitors based on what you share on social media pages. Usually, it only appears on your friends’ feeds. Organic is great for anyone who wants to grow loyalty among followers or friends on social media.
  2. Paid: if you use paid ads, it means that the social media platform will advertise your post on people’s feeds who are not even your friends or followers. Paid ads can help businesses reach audiences with certain criteria. For example, milk ads aimed at pregnant women.

Examples of social media ads platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Instagram, etc.

 

3. Search Engine Marketing

  1. bid on keywords and the results will appear in the top rank of the SERP depending on the value of the offer made.
  2. You will only be charged when a user clicks on the ad.

CPM:

  1. Flat rates per 1000 impressions

  3. If no one clicks on the ads, you still have to pay.
